Profile
Originally knows as New Framingham, Lanesborough was incorporated as a town in 1765. This quiet suburban area is located at the foot of Mt. Greylock on the southern side. Pontoosuc Lake is close by.
A whole range of small industries came up here by 1822. Two famous iron companies – The Briggs Iron Company and Colby Iron Works – used to be here. Today, Lanesborough is the site of the Berkshire Mall. The actress Bette Davis studied here briefly.
