This friendly and prosperous town was established in and incorporated in 1784. After much consultation the first meeting house in town opened in 1795. Dalton has a tradition paper making since 1801. It is home to the famous Crane and Byron Weston paper making companies. Crane & Co has been producing paper for United currency since 1879.
