The Appalachian Trial
This 2,100 mile foot trail passes through Dalton. It was designated as the first Scenic National trail in 1968. The Trail stretches from Katadin in Maine to Springer Mountain in Georgia. Passing through some of the best forest land in the country, the Trail is strictly for hiking. It was conceived in 1921 by Benton McKaye. The Trail passes over Mt Greylock and Mt Everett and through the Housatonic Valley.
Crane Museum of Papermaking
Situated in a 150 years old stone mill, it showcases Dalton’s 200 years old per making history. It is located just off Routes 8 and 9.
Wahconah Falls State Park
Located on Route 9, it is ideal for picnicking, fishing and snowmobiling. A hiking trial leads through lush woods.
