Cheshire-Attractions
Pioneer Monument
Built in 1927, it commemorates the founders of Cheshire, especially Colonel Joab Stafford. Located on Stafford Hill, it is a replica of Benedict Arnold’s Norse Mill in Rhode Island. The view from here is reportedly one of the most beautiful in the Berkshires.
Cheese Monument
A replica of the original cheese press used to make the giant cheese for President Jefferson exists here in Leland Park at the corner of Church and School Streets.
Solomon Cole House
It is here that members of the Masonic Lodge used to meet. It is famous for its eight-paneled Christian door with a double cross.
Ashuwillticook Rail Trail
It’s a former railroad route, now converted into a paved path that runs parallel to Route 8 through Cheshire. It passes on to the Hoosac River Valley. It is popular with bikers today.
Hoosac Lake
A wonderful spot for a quiet picnic. Boating also available.
