Mt. Greylock
One of the chief attractions in the Berkshires, Mt. Greylock is in the vicinity of Adams. Its summit offers panoramic views of the countryside. Visitors can also visit the Veterans War Memorial Tower. Accommodation is available at the Bascom Lodge. The Mt Greylock State Reservation is all of 11,000 acres surrounding Mt Greylock.
To get there take Route 8 through Adams. The Mt Greylock Visitor Center provides all necessary information. Best time to visit is from May to October.
Quaker Meeting House
The Quakers built their meeting house 15 years after they first arrived in Adams. Built in the open timbered style, they used it for over 60 years. This historic landmark has remained in its original condition. It is located on Friend Street.
Adams High School
The Adams High School was set up in 1850. It opened with just one teacher. Early students attended when they could get away from work on the farms. They were required to bring their own chairs. The saw its first graduates pass out in 1871. The school built a building of its own in 1891.
Ashuwillticook Rail Trail
It's a former railroad route, now converted into a paved path, that runs parallel to Route 8 through Adams. It passes on to the Hoosac River Valley. It is popular with bikers today.
Adams Agricultural Fair
Held annually for three days every summer. Known for its horsemanship and other animal contests. Also has tractor and truck pulls.
